Brilla AI was designed to function as an AI contestant in the strenuous National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) in Ghana. This innovative approach sought to establish a benchmark for AI performance in live educational contests. Key features of Brilla AI include:

• Real-time functionalities such as speech to text, question extraction, question answering, and text to speech, working in unison to deliver quick, accurate responses with a local accent.
• Unofficial participation in the Riddles round of the 2023 NSMQ Grand Finale, making it a historic first for the 30-year-old competition. The AI performed admirably, placing second in one of the rounds.
• Potential applications include science tutoring and personal learning experiences, which could democratize science education across Africa.

In my opinion, Brilla AI showcases the promising role of AI in educational settings, particularly in regions with a stark shortage of educational resources. This project exemplifies how AI can be tailored to specific educational challenges, offering a scalable solution for enhancing learning across diverse communities.
